Vidyo, a real-time video conferencing company, today announced the integration of its telemedicine solution with Tyto Care, an all-in-one modular device and telehealth platform for on-demand, remote medical exams.

Tyto Care offers a handheld, modular examination device that examines the heart, lungs, skin, ears, throat and abdomen and measures body temperature to allow physicians to remotely diagnose acute care symptoms. Through an application, users can receive a virtual care appointment with a clinician who will look at the results in real-time. The device can aid in the diagnosis of common conditions such as rashes, ear infections and the flu.

“Our collaboration with Tyto Care contributes to our leadership position providing telehealth solutions that deliver better patient outcomes at reduced costs, while increasing quality of life for both patients and providers,” said Michael Patsalos-Fox, chairman and CEO of Vidyo.

Through a HIPAA-compliant, secure and cloud-based service, VidyoConnect will allow clinicians to launch Tyto Care’s dashboard to remotely control the device associated with the patient’s Vidyo session, giving the physician the opportunity to lead the telehealth visit. The physician will be able to evaluate the symptoms and engage with and diagnose the patient.

The video solution has already been deployed at Ochsner Health System in Louisiana.

“The partnership between Tyto Care and Vidyo is another step in the evolution of telemedicine, allowing our providers to cost-effectively examine patients from a distance in an innovative and convenient way with optimal results,” said Jennifer Humbert, director of telemedicine, development and solutions at Ochsner CareConnect 360.

As more and more telehealth solutions are being deployed, the reach of healthcare providers into the patients’ homes for remote care and monitoring can increase efficiency and cut costs for health systems.
